Teetering
As I write this I find myself in a low spot. Doesn't surprise me much, over the past 6 months I've been in ten dozen other spots that look just like this. So what's the deal then. You know if I knew I don't think it would bother me that much. But fact is, I have no idea why today of all days I just don't care. I don't think it's my relationship, i'm pretty sure i'm happy with that. But I don't know. I don't think it has to do with missing my parents, that shouldn't send me into a spiral. But for some reason I just sit here and think "fuck it". I think a lot of it has to do with money, or well lack there off... I mean i'm used to being broke but this is a whole new broke. I can't even afford to put gas in my car and buy a dollar cheeseburger from mcdonalds. After a while being trapped in the same house, the same room, with the same people... it just becomes unbearable. I would do anything to just get out of here for a day, not even a full day, just a few hours. Without having to worry about how much gas I have left, or if I spend 5 dollars on food will I have enough money the next time someone asks me for it to help buy something for the house? Little things like that make going out just as bad as staying in. Even if I'm with somebody else, then it's just as bad and awkward. I can't decide if whether my decision to move up here was a mistake or not. All I know is that I need to get out of this slump, for good. I've been teetering on the edge of sanity and a deep black hole of misery for a while now. It takes a lot of strength to climb, and so very little force to fall in head first...

Bothersome Stuff
So a few things that have really been bothering me lately.
How is it that people so blatantly show in actions the exact opposite to what they're expressing in words. Like for instance, don't tell me that we need to hangout but then never actually do it. I don't really care if you don't want to. But don't lie. That's ridiculous. Also don't blame your significant other for the reason we can't hang out or do something. Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit. You know damn well that if you actually wanted to do something and asked them, they wouldn't mind. Especially when as far as I know I'm on pretty good terms with all of my friend's others. Or for the love of god, don't ask me about doing something and then never get back to me. That is the worst. (For any friends reading this, don't worry. Odds are if you're actually reading this, I'm not talking about you! I promise.)
Also, ants. No seriously my house is apparently sitting on a damn ant hill! They are everywhere, outside, inside, basement, upstairs. EVERYWHERE! I'm so tired of that. Them and stink bugs need to both cease and desist. (Yes I know they play important rolls in our ecosystem. Don't care, still hate them!)
Lately my insomnia has been back full force. Let me tell you this, you have no idea how it is to be so tired that keeping your eyes open actually hurts, yet not being able to fall asleep. It's terrible. But the upside to this problem is you have sooo much more free time. Do you know that episode of American Dad where Stan starts taking pills where he can stay up forever and still feel rested? Besides the feeling rested part, that's how I feel! I do all my normal stuff with Ryan all day, and then he goes to sleep and I have like another 8 hours to do whatever I want. I have caught up on so many TV shows and read so many articles, it's insane!
Another thing that has been working on me lately, is gas. I am the type of person that really just enjoys a good drive/ride going nowhere in particular and not having to be back at a specific time. So there for a while when I got in the mood to do this, I hopping on my bike and away I rode. Didn't have to worry about gas prices or anything. 4 gallon tank would generally last me a full day of riding. If it didn't, hey it was only another 12-15 bucks to fill it back up. Endless hours of entertainment for less than 40 bucks. Hell yeah! But now seeing as though I'm bikeless and stuck driving a big thirsty Chevy V6 which I'm convinced gets around 15 MPG on a good day, shit adds up.
One last thing that irritates me to no end lately? The fact that I'm ready for the weekend to come so I can cruise back up to connecticut and have a nice weekend away from PA. Sadly this week is going terribly slow so far. Pretty soon, that will be everyday life.

USPS Alcohol Delivery
So Apparently USPS Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe wants to start delivering alcohol. As I think most people know, the postal service has been losing money for a while now, thanks to the internet and social media. This last quarter to the tune of $740 million dollars. Like much of "old media" is, they're now scrambling to figure out how to make money in this super fast, digital world. He claims that the alcohol delivery could raise profits as much as $50 million a year.
Read the full article from HuffPost here if you wish.
Now obviously there are a few problems with this. As stated in the above article you have the issue of who is going to use it? How many people are going to pay for shipping on something they can go down to the store and buy themselves? Originally I was 100% on board with this. But with companies like Amazon Fresh and Netgrocer becoming popular, there is obviously a demand for perishables being shipped to your door.
Then you have the issue with USPS shipping heavy and fragile items. Let's be honest, the words "fragile" never seem to mean much to USPS. I mean they're not as bad as the standard UPS chuck and run method, but they're not far off. My other concern with USPS is their flawed delivery. Unless you want to spend a whole lot, it tends to take at least a week for delivery. Then when it is delivered, they don't like to leave it on your porch when you're not home. I know there have been a few times that because of conflicting schedules I've had a package at the post office for more than a week because I wasn't home during their office hours. This becomes especially true with alcohol. Legally they're going to need a signature to make sure it's not a 16 year old with his parents credit card. Unlike a new iPhone case or a pair of shoes, I don't think your boss is going to want 5 bottles of wine delivered to your job.
Of course the Huff article pointed out that it may be a good way for people around the country to get location specific micro brews. If they're willing to take the time and money to accommodate shipping and handling.
I think it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure that it is really going to work or take off in the real world. We live in a world of instant gratification. That's why I pay 80 dollars a year for amazon prime, I want it now. So although online ordering is in huge demand today, it's usually for items that aren't as readably available. Or in this busy world, we just don't have the time to go to the store to get them. But like I said, USPS isn't just going to drop off a case of beer at my house without a signature. Or at least I hope they wouldn't.

What's up? (About Me)
Well I'm going to try this again. My last blog was forgotten about and even though I bought a custom domain, it doesn't exist anymore. Weird, I know!
I'm in a very happy and very committed relationship of 2 years with my partner Ryan. Not to be one of those people, but he means the world to me. We've been through a lot together and we're still going strong! So much so that we're going to test the relationship strength by moving almost 300 miles away from our hometown(s) and begin to lay the building blocks of what will be our new life.
Now about me, because let's be honest that's what's important! I'm one of those people that are just generally fun to be around. Not to do any self horn tooting, but I'm pretty awesome. My general interests could be eclectic for most. My nerdy side loves video games, cheesy movies and gadgets of all types. My man side loves motorcycles, cars and outdoors activities. I was an avid hunter for years. My gay side however is a huge fan of Musicals and RomComs. I also love to cook and love music of all varieties.
A few months back I was actually in a pretty bad motorcycle accident. I can't talk much about that yet (legal issues), but I was pretty banged up and spent some time in hospital and then rehab. My baby was K.I.A, R.I.P Ksenia 04/30/2013.
Right before that I had quit my job at Weis Markets (horrible place, don't ever go there!) and was currently looking for a new job. So sadly I've been unemployed sine mid April. I was starting to look for jobs around Lancaster again, when my good friends (that's an understatement, my second family) suggested I look in Connecticut rather that here. So after talking to Ryan, and getting a living arrangement situated that's exactly what I decided to do. So sometime in mid-September Ryan and myself will be officially residents of CT, rather than PA. It may be trading one shit hole for another, but I rather like it up there.
Basically I plan to use this blog to put all of my thoughts in one place, in a semi-organized manner. Hopefully.
Joe
